To bridge the oral-literate divide, My Oral Village is currently engaged in two main workstreams. First we are designing 'oral information management' (OIM) solutions that make financial service interfaces usable for illiterate adults. Related to this, we strive to integrate convenient learning solutions for essential but widely missing skills that ease adaptation into the modern economy and financial system. Second, we are engaged in research into the strengths and weakness of illiterate individuals as these affect financial inclusion; for example by placing the study of oral financial numeracy on a scientific basis.
