Brett Matthews

Brett Matthews founded and directs My Oral Village, a Canadian NGO building trusted, usable financial solutions for ‘oral’ (illiterate and semi-literate) adults. Based on direct field research with oral adults in Asia, Africa and the Pacific, he has designed, tested and documented solutions that span multiple retail interface types and financial services. These include a mobile wallet for illiterate adults, a cash calculator for market vendors, financial numeracy games for savings groups and a financial numeracy indicator for CGAP (the global financial inclusion multilateral agency). Brett is currently launching Orali Mobile to commercialize mobile wallet solutions for illiterate users.
